Unlike traditional cast iron, this carbon steel skillet requires no seasoning and is scratch-resistant, however we recommend that you wipe it down with a thin layer of oil or fat after cleaning before storing. It is carbon steel and will oxidize over time if not oiled. - See Skillet Care below for optimum performance.
Skillet Care:
- Avoid harsh scrubbing:Never use steel wool or other abrasive scrubbing pads as they can strip away the pan's seasoning.
- Minimal soap:Use only a tiny amount of dish soap to clean, as too much can remove the seasoning.
- Dry immediately:Always dry the pan completely after washing to prevent rusting.
- apply oil or fat:After drying, apply a thin layer of cooking oil or fat to the pan before storing.
- Simmer in water: Add a small amount of water to the pan and simmer on low heat to loosen stubborn food before scrubbing
- Wood spatula: Use a wooden or plastic spatula to scrape off remaining food particles.
- Put in dishwasher:Never put a carbon steel skillet in the dishwasher.
- Soak for long periods:Avoid soaking the pan in water for extended periods.
- Use cold water shock:Let the pan cool down gradually instead of rinsing with cold water immediately after cooking.
